Bryce High Memorial Music Scholarship

The general purpose of this scholarship is to assist deserving band students who will be attending college with tuition and/or campus living expenses.  Scholarship(s) will be awarded provided funds are available.
 

Number of Scholarships Awarded/Amount
The number of scholarships in a given year will be determined by the High family.
 
Selection Criteria:
 

Applicant must be a senior member of the VBHS Band in good standing and have been  a full participant in the Band for four continuous years, unless student having moved from a previous school.

  

Applicant must be accepted into a college music department with an instrumental major or minor for the upcoming fall semester.

Applicant must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or better (un-weighted). One letter of recommendation from a member of the community.

One letter of recommendation from a member of the faculty, other than the Band Directors.
 
Selection Committee
The Selection Committee shall be comprised of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin High, Jr. and the VBHS Band Director Mr. Sammons.
 
Submission of Application
Applicant must submit the official scholarship application in its entirety by the stated  deadline of
April 15, 2011.  Application  and other documentation must be placed in the silver box in the Band Room hallway by the end of aforementioned date.
 
Application Requirements
 

Copy of high school transcript.

Personal resume of all High School and Community activities (include positions,  held, honors or awards received, and volunteer service)

A typed essay in the following format must be included...
  Paragraph 1 - What you have contributed to the VBHS Band.  

Paragraph 2 - What you have gained from band  participation.

 

Paragraph 3 - How your experience in the Band will help you to achieve your future goals.

  
Paragraph 4 - List the goals and ambitions you hope to achieve upon completing college
                          and why you should be considered for this Scholarship		  
 
Other Provisions

Announcements of the recipient(s) and presentation of the award(s) will take place the night of the VBHS Band Awards.
 

Funding for all scholarships is pending funds available for 2011.  The various scholarship boards and or the Fighting Indians Band Boosters will determine whether or not funds will be available for scholarships this year as applicable to each individual scholarship.  Unfortunately due to the current budget situations some or all of the scholarships listed MAY not be funded.  Final decisions as to funding will be announced prior to May 15, 2011.
